Congregation Beth Israel of the Palisades is thrilled to welcome Rabbi Eric Wasser to our congregational family.

Wasser has an extensive academic biography and seeks to put his myriad of professional skillsets to work for the benefit of our spiritual community. After moving from Toronto, he received his investment as Hazzan and a master’s degree in education from the Jewish Theological Seminary in New York. While serving a leading Conservative congregation in Chicago, he took the opportunity during a Sabbatical year to study in Israel to become a Certified Mohel under the auspices of the Chief Rabbinate in Israel. In Jerusalem, he studied the ancient ritual of brit milah under the guidance of Rabbi Yosef Halperin, of blessed memory.

Upon returning to the east coast, Wasser received a fellowship from the William Davidson School of Education and completed his doctoral studies while researching the confluence of ritual theory and pedagogic practice in the performance of life-cycle rituals. After completing his doctorate, Rabbi Eric completed his rabbinical studies at the Mesivta Wolkowilsk in Queens, New York.

Wishing him much success, we welcome the Rabbi and his family to our CBI congregation! Most importantly, Wasser is a passionate and enthusiastic clergyman who prides himself on teaching Torah and getting to know his congregation. Presently, with the help and support of our lay leadership, he is focusing on developing new programming initiatives and adult education classes for the shul and the greater Fort Lee population.

In many ways, as we are getting to know each other, Rabbi Wasser wants you to think of him as your personal “Rabbi on Call!” Should there be any needs that you have to be addressed, please feel free to reach out and set up an appointment. Wishing him much success, we welcome the Rabbi and his family to our CBI congregation!
