Dear Friends,
This week's Shir Shel Shavua quotes a famous Mishnaic passage describing our holy work's overwhelming nature. The work is long. The work is hard. The work never ends.
Nonetheless, Rabbi Tarfon instructs us:
Rabbi Tarfon said: the day is short, and the work is plentiful
It is not your duty to finish the work, but neither are you at liberty to neglect it;
Please enjoy this rendition of the Mishnaic teaching which expresses the frustration of having so much holy work to do presented by HaZamir: The International Jewish Teen Choir. They perform the New York premiere of Lo Alecha by Gerald Cohen at its Gala Concert at Jazz at Lincoln Center, March 2023.
